Notre Dame Cap Malheureux

In the very north of the island is one of the most famous and most photographed places on the island, namely the red-roofed Notre Dame church in Cap Malheureux.

Since it is a really photogenic place, you will basically never be alone here. The whole area has its own atmosphere. At the church you can feel the spiritual power and just a few meters away at the lagoon, the life of the locals is flourishing at the grill with fresh fish.

The sunset at this place has become our favorite. The girls always play on the beach and on the stones, and at the end we stop at a small church. We even experienced mass here once, which was a great experience. As such a bonus, there is a view of the northern islands, where you can take a trip on catamaran (Coin de Mire, Flat Island and Gabriel Island).

Practical info: park along the road or in the small parking lot behind the church. You can also easily get here by bus. Like most churches in Mauritius, the church is open all day.
