The best places to live in Mauritius

In general, it can be said that the best conditions for life are on the west coast and in the north - there is less wind and rain, but you know: the exception proves the rule. So where is the best place to stay in Mauritius for a longer period in our opinion?

MONT CHOISY

A small village not far from Grand Baie with a wonderful large beach. Here you will find divine peace and at the same time all civic amenities are within reach.

TROU AUX BICHES

Neighboring but more bustling resort. Here you will find larger hotel complexes, the best ice cream on the island, plenty of bars and restaurants, and a beautiful long beach with a turquoise ocean perfect for snorkeling. Disadvantage? The public beach is quite small, however, you can also bring a blanket to the hotel beach - no one will kick you out if you don't go to the area or lie down on the hotel's sunbeds.

POINTE AUX CANONNIERS

The northern neighboring area of Mont Choisy. It is not far from the beach as well as all the services in Grand Baie. The area is densely populated and access to the smaller beach is mainly provided by coastal villas. On the main road to Grand Baie you will find excellent restaurants and shops. Many artists and immigrants from more developed countries live in Pointe Aux Canonniers.

GRAND BAIE

Do you want to be in the center of the action? Then Grand Baie is exactly for you. It's very busy here. Bars, restaurants, shops, markets, clubs, port, hospital and international schools around the corner... just don't count on peace. The public beach is not one of the nicest or cleanest. The entire city is definitely not the island's exhibition location.

PEREYBERE

A densely populated area in the north of the island, which is more or less full of luxurious villas. The most lively is around the most famous city beach of the island (be sure to visit it in the morning and in the evening to avoid the biggest rush). Towards the north there are more villas and therefore more peace. Another advantage is the proximity of Grand Baie and therefore all civic amenities.

FLIC EN FLAC

Several kilometers of beach, great restaurants, stalls, shops and, above all, a perfect location for exploring the island. In addition, you will find an international school and a kindergarten here. We really liked Flic. Casela park is around the corner and you can go to Cascavelle or Super U in Tamarin for big shopping.

TAMARIN

In recent years, a synonym for the city of immigrants from the West and from Australia. That is why you will find a wide range of quality services and education here. You can go shopping at Super U. The city is still growing and new neighborhoods are being built. Tamarin is ideal for exploring the south and center of the island and has its own beach.
