Le Morne Beach

You will hardly find a better-known beach in Mauritius. Le Morne is a concept. The beach was named after the peninsula of the same name with the iconic mountain. And that's why this place is so charming - a majestic mountain rising high above the turquoise sea washing the white beaches lined with palm trees. It's cheesy, but damn beautiful!

And now more practically. The peninsula is home to luxury hotel resorts (hence the palm trees) and a public beach with filaos conifers. On the eastern side you will find a popular kitesurfing spot. The public beach is located right in the middle. You can park in the adjacent parking lots. Catering is provided by stallholders and mainly the Emba Filao restaurant, which is always open at lunchtime except Mondays.

The ocean offers snorkeling opportunities relatively close to the shore. You can also rent one of the boats and go snorkeling even further or take the children on a boat with a glass bottom.

If you would like to climb the mountain, you must make sure that it is already open (or arrange a guide or get up in an unofficial way). For us, Le Morne is one of the most beautiful places in Mauritius.
