Catamaran cruise to Flat Island and Gabriel Island

Our first catamaran cruise. What can I tell you, the ocean is not as calm as a still pool, so I was worried the whole time that the girls would be sick on the boat... but they managed it brilliantly.

A catamaran trip is one of the more expensive trips on the island. There is a really wide range of these boat trips in Mauritius. Trips can be found through agencies for around 2500 rs/person.

Our local friend arranged the trip for us. The meeting was in Grand Baie at 8:00 a.m. First they "took" our shoes - you can only go on the catamaran without shoes😁 (we picked them up again on the way out). Then they took us to the catamaran by boat. Soft drinks, beer, homemade punch (very strong) and rum are available all the time including mixed drinks with rum.

The first stop on the slightly rough ocean was Flat island. I recommend walking behind the black stones on the coast, where you can snorkel nicely. Both islands have beautiful water color and good visibility. After an hour, they took us on a small boat to Gabriel Island - a smaller island with a shallow ocean (again for an hour) . Lunch was then served on the boat in the form of a barbecue (chicken, fish, sausages, vegetables, rice, pastries and pasta).

The cruise back turned into a boat party. Lily also danced and Anežka slept through it. At the port we were happy to be reunited with our shoes again.😂
